CONGRATULATIONS
TO DR. ANNE TOOLAN ROWLEY,
RECIPIENT
OF THE CASHA 2011
DISTINGUISHED
SERVICE AWARD.

Each Year, CASHA’s Distinguished Service Award is presented
to an individual who has made outstanding contributions to our field, to the
communicatively impaired, or to related professional organizations.
Over the course of her career, this year’s recipient, Anne
Toolan Rowley has been deeply involved in the field of Speech-Language
Pathology. She has been dedicated not
only to providing therapeutic services to individuals with communication disorders,
but also to educating others. Graduate
and undergraduate students at The College of Saint Rose have benefited from her
expertise in the areas of child language and literacy, both in the classroom
and in the clinical setting. A CASHA
member since 1976, Anne has advocated CASHA membership with both colleagues and
students. Over the years, she has
encouraged many graduate students to apply for the annual CASHA
scholarship. Her support of our regional
organization has been outstanding.
Anne has been a presenter for many professional
organizations including the recent ASHA Convention where she presented research
for a poster session. She has spoken at
several NYSSLHA conventions, as well as various BOCES and school districts in
the Capital District. CASHA members have
had the opportunity to hear her speak on several occasions, most recently on
the topic of Enriching Preschoolers’
Language and Literacy Skills.
In addition to educating others, Anne is also a lifelong
learner. In 2002 she earned a second
Master’s Degree from SUNY Albany. She
achieved her Ph.D. in 2010, publishing a doctoral dissertation entitled The Role of Grammar Knowledge for
Identifying Language Needs.
To her many students, Anne has been more than a
professor. She has been a mentor and
role model as well. Her professionalism,
knowledge, wisdom, guidance, perseverance, and easygoing, nurturing temperament
have graced not only her students, but also her colleagues and those
individuals whom she has helped over the course of her career.
Please join us in congratulating this most deserving
colleague, Dr. Anne Toolan Rowley, recipient of the 2011 Distinguished Service
Award.
