CONGRATULATIONS TO AMY DUNBAR, RECIPIENT OF THE 2009 CASHA
DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD.
Amy Dunbar was awarded CASHA’s 2009 Distinguished Service
Award. Amy has worked tirelessly for
many years providing service through professional organizations and the Albany
City School District, and she continues to do so.
In CASHA, Amy
served as Vice President, President, and Workshop Chair. During her presidency, she completed the process
through ASHA for CASHA’s approval as a CEU provider. She also strengthened
CASHA’s connection to the audiology community by offering monthly programs and
study groups, and by creating a Vice President of Audiology. Amy went on to serve on the Board of Regional
Presidents, and NYSSLHA. She served as
Director of Speech-Language Pathology in the Schools for two years, was
Operations Chair for the state convention, and currently serves as on the 50th
Anniversary Committee.
Amy has worked in the
Albany City School District for 16 years.
She has served on the teachers’ union Contract Negotiation team working
for a salary stipend and support for the district SLPs during
negotiations. She is a National Urban
Alliance Building Coach, and also serves on the Agenda for the Future
(AFF) committee. As a member of
AFF, she co-chaired the first annual
Pre-Kindergarten Blast last year, providing an opportunity for families to meet
district teachers, to learn about the opportunities in the district, and for
the children to participate in content based activities with entertainment and
lunch provided. The Saturday event included more than 100 families and
approximately 100 teacher volunteers.
Congratulations and thank you, Amy, for your many years of ongoing,
dedicated service to the profession.
